Background

America’s opioid epidemic has created a widespread health emergency across the nation. Leading the charge in solving this crisis are state health agencies, who have been tasked to collect and analyze the data to inform, both the citizens they serve as well as healthcare providers. Yet this is easier said than done, as the data is often disparate, unorganized, and not readily available.

For the Arizona Department of Health Services (AZDHS), they were able to overcome these challenges and create an interactive dashboard that advances their mission in empowering citizen action, increasing transparency, and equipping decision makers to begin to turn the tide of the opioid epidemic.
