The Oregon Health Authority (OHA) compiled this guide for hospitals with emergency departments to aid in the submission of syndromic surveillance data to the Oregon Public Health Division’s syndromic surveillance project (Oregon ESSENCE). (We also accept urgent care data from these facilities.) The information in this guide is based on the PHIN Messaging Guide for Syndromic Surveillance: Emergency Department and Urgent Care Data Release 1.9 (April 2013). Not all the information presented in the PHIN Messaging guide is replicated here.
