Minimizing False Alarms in Syndromic Surveillance

This paper describes a method of avoiding false alerts in automated syndromic surveillance algorithms which monitor the temporal relationship between a particular monitored syndrome (the ìtargetî) in relationship to other reference healthcare data streams (the ìcontextî).
