Dengue hemorrhagic fever One Health Surveillance approach effectiveness in Saudi Arabia

Dengue hemorraghic fever (DHF) is affecting more than 50 million people globally and still remains a persistent public health challenge in Saudi Arabia [1]. Althougth there has been available financial resource, limitations and deficiencies in integrated DHF control management strategy implementation and surveillance capacity have hindered the effective implementation of recommended WHO and Global One Health (OH) strategic guidelines and measures in DHF control and elimination in remotes urban and rural settings in Saudi Arabia[1, 2]. Previous studies have shown that animal, human and ecologic determinants are drivers responsible for imported cases and cyclical epidemics as dengue public health menace[1, 2, 3]. The project aims at assessing the OHS progress and success trends, and its effectiveness in DHF sustained control and elimination surveillance systems in early evidence-based knowledge generation and timely dissemination of surveillance results, to guide decison-making policy, robust and coherent national OH programs and interventions implementation in DHF and other emerging infectious diseases prevention, control and elimination.
