Query purpose:
CDC staff developed the diabetic ketoacidosis CCDD category in order to assess acute diabetes complications, where data access permissions have been granted. This query is designed to identify confirmed diabetic ketoacidosis visits using discharge diagnosis codes that are consistent with national surveillance definitions. Therefore, chief complaint terms are not included in this definition.
