Description

Presented February 19, 2018.

Analysts in a wide variety of industries commonly use data from the US Census Bureau in their work. The tidycensus package aims to simplify the process of working with Census data by allowing R users to request data from the decennial Census and American Community Survey APIs and return tidyverse-ready data frames, optionally with simple feature geometry included. In this presentation, viewers will learn how to acquire and visualize Census data using tidycensus and tidyverse tools. Additionally, viewers will learn about Census geography and how to create both static and interactive maps of Census data in R.
